Harini Iyer

Composer/ Singer/ Artistic Director and founder of The Tamil Jazz Collective

Harini Iyer is a multifaceted Indian singer, composer, and music educator known for her distinctive fusion of classical Indian music with contemporary genres such as Soul, RnB, and Jazz. As the founder and artistic director of the Tamil Jazz Collective, she leads a rotating ensemble of musicians dedicated to reimagining iconic jazz standards in Tamil. The collective, while rooted in Tamil jazz, also embraces cross-cultural collaborations and occasionally explores Spanish and Portuguese influences.

A featured vocalist on the Grammy-nominated album Shuruaat by the Berklee Indian Ensemble, Iyer’s artistry bridges tradition and innovation. With over a decade of rigorous training in Carnatic vocals under Smt. Akhila Siva, and formal instruction in jazz vocals from the esteemed Lisa Thorson, she brings depth, versatility, and global sensibility to her music.

Passionate about sonic storytelling and cross-genre experimentation, Harini Iyer continues to push musical boundaries while nurturing the next generation of artists through her work as an educator.
