Vice President of The German Music Council and Founder of Pop-Akademie Prof. Udo Dahmen's unparalleled and illustrious career includes an eclectic roster of collaborators as diverse as Kraan, Inga Rumpf, Charlie Mariano, Sarah Brightman, Eberhard Schoener, feat. Sting, Nina Hagen, Gianna Nannini, Jack Bruce, Gary Brooker amongst just a few.

While additional accolades like honorary president of the European Drummers' Association  "Percussion Creativ" and member of the Speakers' Council of the German Cultural Council are those he handles with the nonchalance of the classic musicians musician, his true legacy lies in the founding of Germany's most elite and first University that has shattered stereotypes by doing the near impossible task of inserting cutting edge music education in Germany's Public Education Sector for the first time in its history.

Udo Dahmen is an absolute giant in the history of German music. And while that statement carries a slight tinge of controversy that is completely on brand with his persona, the one fact that remains irrefutable is the manner in which he has managed to keep the part of him alive over the decades in a fashion extraordinarily rare for those who occupy space as far up on the arts/music eco-system the way he does: the artist.

Pioneering music-educator for many, celebrated drummer for others, apart from all this and other accolades he brushes off, for me he will always be the mentor who managed to convince me at my disillusioned worst that I could in fact, finish my music degree, and the guy who gave up his first-class compartment seat to come hang with me in a cramped cabin out in the back after a 14 hour day, as he watched me drop half my burger all over it, amidst my overenthusiastic banter on the future of global music.
